Trichoderma is a beneficial fungi, which is a very effective biological control agent of plant diseases especially of soil and seed borne pathogens. It is also effective on bacterial plant diseases and nematodes. Trichoderma interacts closely with plant cells in the root, soil and leaves. Mechanisms of biocontrol adapted by Trichoderma include competition for nutrient and space, Antibiosis, mycoparasitism, hyphal interactions, enzyme secretion and induced systemic resistance. Trichoderma enhances plant growth, boost germination rate and increases crops yields.
Data from our laboratory and field research clearly shows that Trichoderma controls plant diseases like Root rot, Foot rot, Damping-off, Wilt, Sheath blight of Rice, Charcoal rot, Dry rot and Late blight of Potato etc. Trichoderma works against pathogens like Rhizoctonia solani, Fusarium spp., Pythium spp., Sclerotium rolsii, Macrophomina phaseolina, Phytophthora spp., Botrytis cinerea etc. of crops like soybean, rice, wheat, maize and vegetables etc.
We are conducting extensive research on developing Biopesticide products from our numerous effective strains including Trichoderma harzianum (GenBank MH084949.1), Trichoderma viride (GenBank KX495149.1), Trichoderma hamatum (GenBank KX495148.1), Trichoderma asperellum (GenBank MH091329.1), Trichoderma citrinoviride (GenBank MH084943.1), Trichoderma longibrachiatum (GenBank KX495150.1) etc. to control major fungal diseases of rice, wheat, soybean, maize and vegetables.
